The jury's still out on whether I'm alive. If the many-worlds interpretation of quantum physics is true, there exists an alternate world where I am dead that is no less real than the one I am experiencing. The mind-body problem has been tripping my shit out. At least in this Quantum State (sequel to Garden State?) I live to mix another Sebastopol Mixtape. This post was going to be about the Thanksgiving miracle that is Atlas Sound's new ginormous treasure chest of demos and covers, but woke up this morning to find this bullshit on the Deerhunter blog:

Apparently Sony Music Owns my bedroom. Feel free to call or email and let them know what you think. I can understand them requesting for me to remove a cover but the only one I can imagine that happening with is Dylan. Which was on Vol. 1. Which was not deleted.

Anyone who reads this blog knows how big of a Bradford Cox fanboy I am. I geeked out pretty hard over that ghostly untitled jam he's been playing lately, and now I'm fairly giddy with electric spine-tingles over this clip of him playing new shit on Pitchfork.tv's über-elegant Cemetery Gates.



As if Bradford's ethereal solo arrangement of "Walkabout" wasn't enough, the second half of the clip sees him taking a spin through some new Atlas Sound material. The new track "Please Come Home" is an astounding piece of epic folk balladry with probably the saddest hook in recent memory.

The homies at Southern Shelter were kind enough to post this amazing bootleg of Bradford "Atlas Sound" Cox playing some songs from Logos at Athens, GA's storied 40 Watt Club on NYE.



Of special interest to fans: this ethereal jammed-out version of "Walkabout," which lasts like 15 minutes and opens with an untitled song Cox has been playing live for a while. Enjoy:

Personal Note

I just heard the source song for the lead sample from Atlas Sound and Panda Bear's amazing "Walkabout," the Dovers' classic 60s pop masterpiece "What Am I Going to Do?." I've had this comp for years and I never connected the dots until now.
