video: Deerhunter - New Songs Live at Cat's Cradle

As if there could be any better news that Deerhunter is coming to Poormona's very own Glass House next weekend, I'm rocking some enthusiasm of the foaming-at-the-mouth variety after checking out these new Deerhunter songs recorded at a recent show at Carrboro, NC's Cat's Cradle by the homie, um "lovexnotxlost."

My favorite of the three would probably be "Revival," a lock-stepping strummy garage rocker in the vain of "Never Stops" or "Famous Last Words." Special mention to "Fountain Stairs," which features lead guitarist Luckett Pundt (a.k.a. Lotus Plaza) on vocals.

Followers of Deerhunter's blog are already intimately familiar with Lotus Plaza, a.k.a. Deerhunter guitarist Lockett Pundt's solo project.


The Floodlight Collective [out March 23 on Kranky]

What you may not know is that Pundt will take the debut-LP plunge when Kranky unleashes The Floodlight Collective on March 23. The 10-track release features guest drumming by none-other than worship-me-I'm-Bradford Cox.

Don't expect much in the way of touring, as the aforementioned date comes smack in the middle of Deerhunter's [UPDATE: POSTPONED] massive European tour.

Yes--I've already got the album. Yes--it's excellent. No--I can't post any of it for you (Web Sheriff's watching, after all).
