New Music: Beach Fossils

So today I woke up and, as I do most days, I curse myself for not being nearly as hip as the dudes over at Chocolate Bobka (they brought you this and this).

Today's slap in the face comes in the form of this video of Brooklyn's Beach Fossils laying down a track called "Vacation," some classic indie pop that tickles the Real Estate receptors in my brain.

Chocolate Bobka: Beach Fossils - 'Vacation' from Ray Concepcion on Vimeo.

Look for some legit material coming soon from either Woodsist or Captured Tracks.

Also: demos!

New Music: Meth Teeth

The Woodsist hit-machine keeps churning, this time serving up a punchy garage-pop anthem from Portland's Meth Teeth.

While I can't say much for the imagery their name conjures up, the material itself shines with ringing guitars and crunchy cymbals that far exceed the scope of the humble recording apparatus.

Video: Holiday Shores - Phones Don't Feud

twosyllable records' roster has quickly been shaping up to be one of the most formidable bunch of bands around. Home to artists such as That Ghost and Holiday Shores, it's one of the best sources of sun-bleached pop this side of Woodsist.

Holiday Shores' new video for the lead single from their forthcoming Columbus'd the Whim--out August 4--is packed with swirling psychedelic imagery to compliment the reverbed-out clatter of "Phones Don't Feud."

Video: Woods on Pitchfork Live

Always the most subtle and compelling act on a Woodsist roster that contained blog darlings like Vivian Girls, Crystal Stilts, and the intolerable (somebody has to say it) Wavves, NYC outfit Woods have been building up a small and devoted following with their more pastoral take on that whole lo-fi noise-pop thing everybody's going crazy over.

In early February, Pitchfork.tv's cameras caught the band tearing it up (seriously, dude wears his headphones around his nose like a gas mask) at New York's Market Hotel.

The full set is here.
