new song: the babies - run me over

Vivian Girl Cassie Ramone and Woods' Kevin Morby have themselves a little side-project called the Babies, and it pretty much sounds exactly like a mash-up between their respective strains of lo-fi pop. Their first full-length is about to drop from the Upland homies Shrimper Records (all hail Wckr Spgt) and the first song is six distinct kinds of wonderful.

video: yourstru.ly at woodsist fest

The sad truth about all great concert footage is that is just makes you wish you were there. The homies at Yours Tru.ly are keenly aware of this, having dragged their envy-generating lenses to Big Sur for the Woodsist Festival. Pay attention, these guys are putting on a veritable clinic on Authentic Rockist Banter while enjoying the greenery and jamming to the likes of Kurt Vile and Real Estate.

Video: Woods on Pitchfork Live

Always the most subtle and compelling act on a Woodsist roster that contained blog darlings like Vivian Girls, Crystal Stilts, and the intolerable (somebody has to say it) Wavves, NYC outfit Woods have been building up a small and devoted following with their more pastoral take on that whole lo-fi noise-pop thing everybody's going crazy over.

"Death Rattles" [from Songs of Shame, out now on Woodsist]

In early February, Pitchfork.tv's cameras caught the band tearing it up (seriously, dude wears his headphones around his nose like a gas mask) at New York's Market Hotel.

The full set is here.
