Joizey indie-rock legends Yo La Tengo are having a good 2009: releasing not only one of the best albums of the year, but one of the best of their catalog with Popular Songs.
Hopping across the river for a performance on P4k's "Don't Look Down," Ira Kaplan and co. recorded a groovy, smoldering rendition of lead-track "Here to Fall," with the always-tight rhythm section uncoiling a lockstep psyched-out groove while Ira makes far more noise than you'd expect a keyboard and a single wah pedal could.
