New Music: Mini Mansions - Majik Marker

Last Sunday's Autolux show at the Glass House was awesome, not least so because of the gripping set put on by LA Nuggets-afficianados Mini Mansions.



I was sufficiently impressed to purchase their excellent self-released EP, parts Odyssey and Oracle, Rook, and even a little Yellow House.

EP opener "Majik Marker" is pure sunbleached psychadelia, relying on atmospheric arrangements and three-part harmonies twisting around inventive melodies and leading up to a fist-pumping climax that sounded even better live.

If you've never been quite able to fill the void left by Will Cullen Hart's late, great Olivia Tremor Control (sorry Circulatory System), this is the best bet I've found in a long while.
